Georgian journalists vists Cambs weeklies

A group of journalists from the former Soviet state of Georgia have been swapping notes with the news team at the Cambs Times and Wisbech Standard.

Three journalists traveled from Georgia, between Russia and Turkey, to Archant Herts & Cambs’ March office to see how news is gathered, written and edited in the Fens.

Lela Dumbadze, Zviadi Ruadze, and Irma Zaidze, along with their interpreter Ellada Gamreklidze, were welcomed by news editor John Elworthy, who introduced them to the Mayor of March, councillor Jan French.

During the trip John and his guests also enjoyed a whistle-stop tour of Elgood’s Brewery at Wisbech, and visited the site of the town’s £50m riverside development where they were keen to hear how a derelict part of the town was being transformed.

The trip was an EEC-funded project through the BBC World Service Trust. Do you have a story about the regional press?
