Gazette bid to catch cat killer

Gazette Newspapers is offering a £200 reward to help find a serial cat killer.

The cat sniper has shot at least nine cats with an airgun in the past 18 months and five of the cats have died from their injuries.

Gazette Newspapers, which publishes the Basingstoke Gazette, Tadley Gazette and Basingstoke Extra, decided to put up the £200 reward after the ninth cat was shot at the end of October.

All the shootings have occurred within a handful of neighbouring roads in Pamber Heath, near Basingstoke and police have yet to find who is responsible despite repeatedly appealing to the public for information.

Mark Jones, editor of the Basingstoke Gazette series, said: “Everyone has been sickened by this spate of attacks.

“We hope that the reward will lead to the person, or people, involved in these cruel incidents being brought to justice.”

The reward will be paid out to anyone who can provide information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the killer.
