Free treatment after Mercury highlights problem

A generous physio has stepped forward to offer free treatment to a sick youngster after a funding anomaly was highlighted in the Leicester Mercury.

Unless you have a recognised condition, it is nearly impossible to have access to charitable aid.

And that was the problem faced by two-year-old Toby Marriott, who has an unknown illness.

The paper explained how his unique syndrome – which doctors cannot diagnose – leaves him unable to talk, walk or crawl, and also with partial sight and slight deafness.

The Mercury called for the funding problem to be looked into for the 300 children nationally who have the same difficulty getting charitable support for expensive treatments.

Toby already has weekly occupational therapy, physiotherapy and conductive education sessions.

The new treatment on offer from city chiropractor Thomas Jeppersen could help ease Toby’s symptoms in a different way and will pay particular attention to his skull.
