Former reporter strips off for acting debut

A former regional newspaper reporter has stripped off to make her professional acting debut.

Daisy Blake, who worked at the Bath Chronicle for two years, is currently starring in a production of Big Love in Salt Lake City.

The 28-year-old, who left the Chronicle last year to move to America to be with her mother, had not acted since leaving university six years ago.

But in her lead role as one of three brides who take refuge in a villa to avoid mass nuptials and plot to kill the grooms, she has to strip off within 20 seconds of being on stage.

Daisy became a journalist after completing a theatre studies degree and thought she had left acting behind, but won the role after the director asked her to audition.

She stripped off for the first time in the final dress rehearsal and admitted to being very self-conscious in front of the cast and crew, but her nerves have now faded.

She said: “The first time I was really nervous about it but having gone through that it didn’t seem so bad doing it in front of an audience.

“It is only a very short scene – I appear in a wedding dress and take it off before getting into a bath tub – you only see the back of me.”
