Former Evening Post staff to be reunited

Former employees of the Reading Evening Post are being invited to a reunion to celebrate the paper’s 40th anniversary.

The event on Saturday, September 10 is being co-organised by Richard Reed who worked as a photographer for the newspaper from 1966 to 1970.

Richard, who is now assistant news editor for the Henley Standard, is currently trying to track down nearly 400 ex-staff for the reunion, which will take place at the newsroom’s former favourite watering hole, the old Caversham Bridge Hotel, now the Holiday Inn, Reading.

The get-together will include a buffet meal and possible entertainment on the Sunday morning.

Richard is also hoping to organise a tour around the Evening Post’s offices to coincide with the event.

He said: “An awful lot of people have come and gone over the years and some have done very well for themselves going on to work in the nationals and around the world.

“We are especially looking for people from the first 20 years. We are having people coming from Canada, Dubai, America and Turkey.”
