Former editor dies at 79

Former Mid Sussex Times editor Robin Anderson has died aged 79.

The retired journalist had begun his career in Scotland before serving in the Royal Navy during the Second World War.

Soon afterwards he joined The Argus in Brighton as its Mid Sussex reporter, where he worked for a number of years before becoming editor of the Mid Sussex Times in Haywards Heath.

Former Argus colleague Phil Dennett said: “He was one of the last great old-style district reporters who lived on their patch and knew it inside out.

“As an editor, he was able to achieve success and also retain the respect of everyone for his kindness and humanity, which is what I shall remember him for more than anything else.”

A widower, Robin leaves two sons and four grandchildren.
