A new Internet gateway has been launched for people on the south coast.

Newsquest Media Group has set up the This is Hampshire, following the success of the Daily Echo and its sister websites in the area.

They have been brought together to form www.thisishampshire.net, which is now online.

The network of sites covers all the major towns, districts and villages in the area, and brings news and sport for the region as well as information on business, weather, leisure pursuits and other topics.

The main Daily Echo site is now at www.thisissouthampton.co.uk and has been divided up into the news regions covered by the paper.

On offer as well as the news are a dedicated site to Southampton Football Club; business, financial and money news; information from the local arts and leisure scene, along with a reviews section; a recruitment service and jobs database; an online shopping mall and the Fish4 directory service.

There are also pages of community information, facts and figures, a tourism guide and features on a wide range of topics.
