Evening Times looks forward to new presses

A topping out ceremony has been held at the Scottish Media Group’s new printing plant.

The £36million development at Cambuslang Investment Park will provide state-of-the-art printing facilities for the Glasgow Evening Times and The Herald.

The plant will contain two modern printing presses capable of producing broadsheet and tabloid newspapers with colour throughout, and up to 75,000 copies an hour.

Evening Times editor Charles McGhee said: “The new press will transform the Evening Times.

“We will be able to bring our readers a much more colourful product, and deliver even more of today’s news in today’s paper.”

The new development will replace SMG’s current printing press on Albion Street where the papers have been printed for 20 years.
