Evening Post launches search for new media stars

The South Wales Evening Post has launched a competition to find two young reporters and two young photographers for the year 2001.

After the success of the paper’s competition last year, it is again calling on youngsters to show off their talent and compete for the titles of South Wales Evening Post Young Reporter of the Year and Young Photographer of the Year.

The competition is open to schoolchildren, and split into two age groups – primary school pupils aged 11 and under and senior school pupils aged 12 and over.

Hopefuls in the reporting category must write an account of an actual event, such as a pop concert or exhibition, in 200 words or less, while budding photographers need to submit two photographs.

The winners will get to attend a special award ceremony with the editor of the Evening Post, enjoy a tour of the newspaper building, and also receive a cup to keep and a shield for their school to keep for a year.
