Evening Gazette spreads festive cheer in Kosovo

Christmas is coming early for soldiers from Colchester who will be spending the festive season in Kosovo.

Most of the soldiers from 10 Transport Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps will not be home for Christmas.

Instead they will be relying on e-mail, phone and blueys – Army mail – to keep in touch with their families.

So the Evening Gazette has decided to spread a little festive cheer and bring the soldiers Christmas messages from their nearest and dearest.

The newspaper has been busy filming relatives during their Christmas preparations, and later this week the Gazette’s Army reporter, Julia Gregory, will deliver the video to soldiers in Kosovo.

She will also bring back messages from the soldiers which will be published in the Gazette.

  • During filming the newspaper visited St Michael’s School in Colchester, where children put on a rehearsal of their nativity and Gazette editor Irene Kettle recorded a special Christmas message for the soldiers.
