Editors gather to share ideas

More than 70 regional press editors were today due to gather in Birmingham for the annual Newsquest Editorial Conference.

The two-day event, at the Copthorne Hotel Birmingham, will give staff from the newspaper group the opportunity to step back from the headlines and deadlines and swap notes on what works, and what doesn’t work, on their various titles.

A host of speakers from across Newsquest will address the 100-plus delegates who are due to attend, in a range of seminars organised for what has become a key event in the group’s calendar.

These include Newsquest managing director Paul Davidson, Northern Echo editor Peter Barron and Southern Daily Echo business editor Ron Wain.

There will also be a number of speakers from outside the group, including Guy Black, the director of the Press Complaints Commission; Peter Sands, director of The Editorial Centre in Hastings; and Tony Jaffa from law firm Foot Anstey Sargent.
