Editor to take up post

Steve Hughes, deputy editor of the East Anglian Daily Times, is about to take up his new job as editor-in-chief of the Newsquest-owned Bolton Evening News Group.

Hughes, 45, has more than 20 years experience on regional papers.

He began his career on the Hereford Times before moving to the Bristol-based Western Daily Press where he spent three years as a senior reporter.

There then followed a short spell as news editor of the Buckinghamshire Advertiser series before he moved to the Northern Echo in Darlington as chief reporter and later became deputy news editor.

He spent five years in the North East before returning to the Western DailyPress as news editor. He became deputy editor of the East Anglian DailyTimes four years ago.

He said: “The Bolton Evening News has an excellent relationship with itsreaders and I will be looking to build on that. There’s a lot of potentialand I can’t wait to get started.”

He takes up his appointment next week.
