Editor to go back to the 'shop floor' as a newspaper boy

Editor Barry Hunt is to go back to the shop floor as a newspaper boy to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Barry Hunt, editor of Archant’s East Herts and Essex Heralds, Saffron Walden Reporter and Dunmow Broadcast, will take over the paper-round of 14-year-old Kirsty Darrell from Old Harlow on March 23.

It follows a challenge by the cancer charity for business people across the country to go back to basics and collect sponsorship money for doing so.

Barry hopes to raise more than £500, which could be then be doubled by Archant’s match-funding scheme.

Barry said: “We have often highlighted the good work of Marie Curie nurses, so I thought it was about time I did something to support them.

“I have already received lots of support from friends and workmates and I would urge other bosses to join in too.”

Barry has a lot to live up to, as regular papergirl Kirsty knows the names of all the cats and dogs on her round.

She told him: “Watch out for the dogs! There are a lot of them on my round, and there are lots of steps and long driveways too.”
