Editor's eight-mile trek adds to Alzheimer's appeal tally

Guernsey Press and Star editor Richard Digard was among more than 500 walkers who turned out for an eight-mile charity walk in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

The editor cut short a holiday in Tuscany to take part in the Memory Walk, raising money for the Society and the Maison Million Home Appeal which is being supported by the paper.

The walk saw volunteers pound paths from Chouet to Saumarez Park.

Richard reached the finish line in just over an hour and a half, raising a “few hundred pounds”.

He said: “The Guernsey Press is supporting an appeal to raise £1m to help get started a specialist Alzheimer’s care home and we are now towards the £500,000 mark.

“The Guernsey branch of the Alzheimer’s Society made the Memory Walk – its main fundraiser for the year – over to the Maison Million Home Appeal, which was fantastic of them.” Do you have a story about the regional press?
