by HoldTheFrontPage staff

Retired Lincolnshire Echo computer manager Vic Haywood has died after suffering from motor neurone disease.

The former magistrate and Salvation Army member had worked for the paper for 28 years until his retirement through illness in 1998.

Colleagues and friends have been paying tribute to Mr Haywood, who leaves a wife, Ruth. Formerly of Lincoln, he lived at Newark.

Echo pre-press manager Paul Hellings said: “I had worked with him for about 20 years and always found him to be conscientious and helpful.”
