A free community website project run by the Aberdeen Independent has attracted dozens of local groups and organizations in its first few days.

The Communivoice project allows non profit-making bodies the chance to appear on the Internet.

The company has secured backing from oil giant Shell for the project, which enables people to publish pictures, news reports and events and send e-mails to group members.

Independent editor Jonathan Moore said: “We are delighted to be able to offer this new service and hope that those who try it will find it very useful.”
