Double delight for local historians

Two former Echo staffers have put pen to paper as the secrets of Lincolnshire’s colourful past are revealed in a pair of new books.

The exclusive new hardbacks from the Lincolnshire Echo are taking a close look at the county’s fascinating history.

Former Echo photographer Peter Washbourn has compiled Memory Lane – Lincoln and Lincolnshire, which contains more than 450 pictures from the newspaper’s archives.

Peter now writes a regular ‘bygones’ column as well as a weekly supplement for the paper.

In the new book he includes memories of half-day closing, different bus stations for different directions out of the city, and the ever-changing street scene.

The second book, Past Imperfect, has been written by former Echo sports reporter Brian Halford and charts the highs and lows of The Imps – Lincoln City Football Club.

Both publications are on sale at the Echo’s main office or by post.
