A donation to the Scunthorpe Telegraph-backed Lindsey Lodge Hospice Appeal has meant the total is now more than £750,000.

The donation from The Rugby Group Benevolent Fund, an independent charitable trust associated with Rugby Cement, pushed the total over the half-way mark toward its grand total of £1.4m.

The Telegraph has been backing the appeal since last May and donations to the newspaper amount to more than £55,000.

Telegraph editor Michelle Lalor said: “People in North Lincolnshire have done a fantastic job for us – please keep it up and we will reach our target.”

The Lindsey Lodge Hospice Appeal will fund the building of a new 10-bed hospice at the site, which currently has no provision for overnight stays.
