In Weymouth, the Dorset Evening Echo also increased sales, by 0.67 per cent to 20,891.
David Murdock, editor of the Evening Echo said: “We are fortunate in that since 1998, we have seen a steady increase in circulation each year.
“There are no magic answers which have led to the increased success, we have just maintained the same standards over a long period of time.
“Although the figures for the Saturday edition have received a big boost since the launch of the Weekend magazine last June, which includes a number of features on entertainment and fashion.
“It’s a case of constantly maintaining the momentum.”
