Devon titles get online

Readers of the Sidmouth Herald, Midweek Herald, Exmouth Herald and the Exmouth Journal can now check out the latest editions of the papers online following the launch of four new websites by publisher Archant.

The move means that all of Archant’s Devon newspapers can now be seen on the Internet.

Archant South West launched its successful North Devon Gazette and Advertiser website in 2001 and has built on this experience and used models from online versions of the Herts Advertiser and Comet Series to develop its new sites.

www.devon24.co.uk provides links to news, sport and letters from the four papers, and also gives readers access to interactive forums and jobs and dating searches.

Private adverts, including family announcements, private motors and articles for sale, can also be booked online, and readers can also order photos and purchase copies of the papers.

A web working party chaired by Archant’s director of digital media, Clive Haden, developed the sites.

Sally Fairbrother, web editor for Archant South West, said: “The new website offers readers an alternative way to read their favourite local newspaper.

“This has been an exciting new venture for Archant South West and over the next few months we will be adding lots of new features to the website, including picture spreads for the region’s top events and a great property search database.”

Archant South West will launch online versions of its Somerset titles early next year.
