Death of Telegraph veteran
by HoldTheFrontPage staff
Former Belfast Telegraph chief sub-editor Sam McMurray has died.
He was attending a service at Portstewart Presbyterian Church on Tuesday when he collapsed.
Mr McMurray, who leaves a daughter, spent many years in journalism, particularly with the Belfast Telegraph and the Coleraine Constitution. He also edited the Portstewart church’s magazine.
A former minister of the church, the Rev Ronnie Wilson, said: “He was very much loved as a friendly and easy-going man who was always sensitive and diplomatic about the things he was reporting.”
