Death of Chronicle community correspondent

Joyce Candy, a community correspondent for the Bath Chronicle, has died after a three-year battle with cancer.

Mrs Candy, who was 77, joined the Chronicle in 1993 as one of its first community correspondents.

She was also a former editor of the South American handbook, a detailed travel guide which is still popular today and was a forerunner to the Rough Guide and Lonely Planet books.

She had lived in Bath for 60 years and was married to Donald Candy, but was later widowed.

Her funeral was held at Bath Abbey on Friday.
