Daily Record to launch four free commuter editions

The Daily Record is to launch four free commuter editions of the newspaper later this month.

The paper currently publishes two timed, geographical editions, GLASGOW PM and EDINBURGH PM, which have been on sale from 3pm each afternoon.

These are now to be transformed into free commuter papers, and editions will also be launched simultaneously in Aberdeen and Dundee.

Initially, it is hoped that 15,000 to 20,000 copies will be distributed in total across the four cities between 5pm and 7pm each weekday, by an army of distributors.

Mark Hollinshead, managing director of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail, said: “The evolution of the PM concept will provide complementary opportunities for advertisers currently targeting the audience delivered by our digital classified platforms Scotcareers and Scotwheels.”

Bruce Waddell, editor of the Daily Record, said: “Free PM will not only target new readers but also heavily promote the next day’s edition of the Daily Record.”
