A special concert is planned to celebrate the life of a former journalist who died recently.
Bill Brunt, who worked at the Gloucester Citizen for 26 years before retiring in 1992, died in June aged 74.
The performance dedicated to Bill will be held during the next Stroud Brass Band Festival season. He had been the festival’s compare for almost 30 years.
Festival president Maurice Cooper, said: “Bill’s knowledge of brass bands was second to none and for 29 years his humour and banter put the icing on the cake at each of our concerts.
“I must stress that this will be a concert to celebrate his life, and not a memorial concert.”
Bill’s started out as a journalist in the late 1940s when he became a reporter with the Stroud Journal.
He was also editor of the old format Gloucester Journal before moving to the Citizen.
