Churchill exhibition launched

Photographs from the archives of the Kent Messenger Group, publishers of Kent and Medway Today, feature in a new exhibition on the life of Sir Winston Churchill.

Called The Churchill Connection, the exhibition was opened by Sir Winston’s grandson Winston S Churchill at St George’s Centre, Chatham Maritime, and will run until August 27.

Many newspapers from the Kent Messenger Group used material on Sir Winston over the years. The statesman made his home at Chartwell, near Westerham, and became a freeman of Rochester, Margate and Deal. He learned to fly at Cliffe, near Rochester and became Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports.

The Kent Messenger Group publishes 30 titles in all throughout the county.
