Michelle Lalor has been appointed editor of the Grimsby Telegraph.
She will succeed Peter Moore who is retiring at the end of next month after 20 years in the editor’s chair.
Michelle, (36), has been editor of the Telegraph’s sister paper in Scunthorpe since 1999.
She started her career with Grimsby and Scunthorpe Newspapers in 1988 as a trainee reporter, becoming assistant editor at Grimsby in 1998 after four years in Hull as news editor and in new media.
She is married with two daughters.
Her successor at Scunthorpe is Jon Grubb, (35), deputy editor of the Nottingham Evening Post since 1997.
Jon, who was born and brought up in Lincolnshire where his family still live, started in newspapers on the Buckinghamshire Advertiser in 1989 and held senior newsroom positions on the Gloucester Citizen at the time of the Fred West trial. He has been at Nottingham since 1995.
He is married with two children.
Kevin Beatty, managing director of Northcliffe Newspapers, which owns both newspapers, said: “I am sure you will join me in congratulating both Michelle and Jon on their promotion and in wishing Peter Moore an equally long, busy and successful retirement as has been his illustrious editorial career with Northcliffe Newspapers.”
