Cash award for journalist's 'bullying' website

Bullying Online, a charity founded by Yorkshire Evening Post sub-editor Liz Carnell, has scooped an E-Commerce Award worth £2,000.

The website www.bullying.co.uk won the community and voluntary section of the Yorkshire and Humber region of the National E-Commerce Awards and goes on to compete for another £8,000 at a gala dinner in London tomorrow.

Liz said: “To win was marvellous and to get a cheque for £2,000 was even better. The money will help with our running costs.”

More than 200,000 parents and children have visited the Bullying Online website in the last three years, and 12,200 of those have emailed the charity for personal advice.

In another success for the operation, Bullying Online is now featured on most of the Johnston Press websites as well as those belonging to the former Regional Independent Media which was bought by Johnston earlier this year.
