World-wide support for axe attack campaign

An Abbey Church Appeal Fund, set up on the morning after the axe attack at Waltham Abbey on Friday, January 3, has topped £8,000.

Last Wednesday marked the first day since then that no cheques have arrived in the post for the North London Guardian which set up the appeal.

The total is so far £8,192.12, with contributions having been received from as far as Canada, America, the Isle of Man, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Many have been sent with letters wishing the paper well with the appeal, and thanking it for getting involved.

Publicity-wise it has been mentioned on Sky News, BBC (local and national) radio and Guardian editor David Jackman was interviewed on BBC Essex and Radio Five Live.

The appeal, with the paper’s details, has also been mentioned in the Daily and Sunday Telegraphs.
