Whingers beware -life is good!

Moves to improve the quality of life in Bedford and the surrounding villages have been commended by a host of politicians, business leaders and voluntary workers.

The Times and Citizen’s Pride in Bedford campaign was launched to promote everything the town has to offer and to tap into its potential.

Mayor Hazel Mitchell said: “It’s heartening to read good, positive news about Bedford. Let’s keep it up and hope that the carpers and whingers will see the light and come on board.”

Eric Evans, president of the Bedford Chamber of Trade, said: “If we can get the pride back into the population, including the retailers, then it will give a sense of well-being to the town which in itself is attractive.”

Valerie Elsegood, chief officer of the North Bedfordshire Council for Voluntary Service added: “There are at least 1,000 voluntary and community groups in the area, and they all have their part to play in the life of the community and contribute an enormous amount.”
