A £10,000 boost has taken a newspaper’s cancer appeal to more than £58,000.

Swansea health chiefs are delighted with the progress of the South Wales Evening Post Cancer Fund, which will buy care equipment and pay for services in the area.

The fund was launched in April and has gone from strength to strength on the back of a previous appeal which raised £725,000 to build a cancer centre in the grounds of a Swansea hospital.

Andrew Bellamy, from the local health authority, told Evening Post readers: “I think it is encouraging people are still remembering the importance of the campaign and there has even been an increased contribution in the past month.

“We are absolutely delighted with the continuing response we are getting from the people of South West Wales.”
