Weighty campaign under way

A North East photographer is being hailed ‘king of the slimmers’ after losing ten pounds in weight in two weeks.

Doug Moody under the spotlight as part of a heavyweight team from the Middlesborough Evening Gazette chosen to spearhead the paper’s anti-obesity campaign.

Editor Paul Robertson, chief sports sub Martin Neal and photographic assistant Laura Peberdy all agreed to get fit lose weight to help promote Get Trim for Teeside.

But it’s Doug setting the pace so far – and he’s now joined a gym to keep his health kick going.

The campaign is being organised with the help of Teeside Health Action Zone to tackle soaring levels of obesity in the region.

Readers are being encouraged to improve their health and fitness while raising cash for local charities at the same time.

For Doug, who weighs in at more than 20 stones, it seems an ideal opportunity to get in trim.

He said: “I don’t want huge muscles. I’m using the gym to get slim and lose weight, and I’m really enjoying it.

“And my wife Carol is being really strict, watching what I eat – no biscuits, no crisps, smaller portions.”

The rest of the team are said to be ‘doing well’ and are raising money for the Teeside Hospice in the process.
