Weeklies' plea on happy nappy solution

A new drive backed by the Kidderminster Shuttle and Times & News is urging parents to ‘get real’.

As part of the Get Sorted campaign, the papers are urging new parents to do their bit to cut the mountain of disposable nappies thrown away every week in Wyre Forest.

They want readers with young babies to try out real nappies to help ease the pressure on the district’s landfill sites.

The real nappy drive is the latest in a line of initiatives pushed by the papers together with Wyre Forest district council to help cut waste and boost recycling.

Shuttle/Times & News editor Clive Joyce said: “We are in the middle of a campaign locally to encourage recycling and the re-use of waste.

“The real nappy drive is part of the broader Get Sorted campaign to encourage people to reuse and make better use of waste in the area.”

A kerbside recycling collection will be rolled out across the district from next April and the papers have also run a competition with local school children to design posters to promote the initiative.
