A massive response to a newspaper plea to save Scunthorpe’s Jubilee Theatre has brought a bumper postbag of 600 protest letters and coupons.
Readers are putting pen to paper in a bid to save part of the town’s history.
The campaign is aiming to get the theatre registered as a listed building to ensure its unique exterior is preserved.
Telegraph editor Michelle Lalor has now penned a letter to be sent to Chris Smith MP, at the Department of Culture, Media and Sport and English Heritage to have the property listed.
She said: “The support we have received has been overwhelming.
“I cannot believe how many people have taken the time to write about their memories of the theatre and fill in a coupon.”
