Singer aims to save Shakers

She may be part of the pop group whose debut single shot straight to the top of the charts but she’s still got time to back the Bury Times Save Our Shakers campaign.

Suzanne Shaw is best known as a member of the band Hear’Say, created through the television show Popstars.

Bury born and bred Suzanne, 19, has shown loyalty to her home town by adding her support to the newspaper appeal to try and raise £20,000 to keep Bury FC afloat.

The Bury Times approached the young star when she visited her former school, St Gabriel’s, last month with bandmate Kym Marsh.

Suzanne was only too pleased to add her name to the list of supporters desperate to keep the football club going – and revealed she was a fan of the Shakers.

The campaign has already been backed by several other celebrities and local MPs and the newspaper has promised that anyone donating more than £5 will have their name added to a roll of honour.

Hear’Say’s single Pure and Simple has gone straight to the top of the charts on its first week of release and gained a place in musical history by becoming the fastest selling British debut single of all time.
