Gloucestershire Citizen readers have raised enough money to help children carry on withtheir studies after the Gujarat disaster.
The Citizen-Unicef campaign raised over £10,000 forthe children who survived the earthquake.
Readers raised money by organizing events atschools, hospitals and within the community.
Unicef spokesman Chris Wynn said: “I would like tothank Citizen readers so much for their generosity tothe survivors of the Gujarat disaster.
“It is heartening to know that their donations reallydid make a difference at a time when the childrenneeded it most.”
Some 15,000 schools were destroyed by theearthquake, this week about 4,000 of them re-opened, thanks to the help from the Citizen readers.
