Press snappers target lazy parents

Lazy parents in Swansea who park their cars on yellow lines outside schools when they drop off or collect their children had a shock when they found South Wales Evening Post photographers on the scene.

The Swansea-based daily’s blitz on thoughtless drivers found dozens of parents parking illegally outside the city’s schools.

The Northcliffe newspaper has published photos of cars ignoring safety regulations at schools across the city.

Reporters have also been on hand to ask drivers to explain why they are parking in restricted areas.

Editor Spencer Feeney said: “Our campaign was prompted by readers who were contacting us to complain that these lazy and thoughtless drivers were putting other people’s children at risk by creating hazards around schools in the morning and afternoon.

“Since we launched Keep Them Safe, we have received dozens more phone calls from parents asking us to turn the spotlight on their child’s school.”

The campaign, which has been backed by police, local MPs, and Welsh Assembly Members, will run throughout the current school term.
