Paper's push relies on readers

The East Fife Mail has pledged its support to a campaign run by the Fife Free Press – and is now urging readers to get involved.

An appeal to raise £100,000 to build a Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre was launched last year and more than £15,000 has already been collected – but there is still a long way to go.

A Maggie’s Centre would help people with cancer and their families get information and treatment about their illness.

At the moment, the only Maggie’s Centre is in Edinburgh and people living in Fife who suffer from cancer have to travel.

Plans are already under way to build the centre in the grounds of Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital but the £100,000 needs to be raised first.

The East Fife Mail is encouraging readers to get involved in fundraising and has promised them publicity.
