Staff from the Aberdeen Evening Express are delighted by the success of their latest nostalgia night – which raised more than £1,000 for its Millennium fund, Children 2000.

Hundreds of ballroom dancers took to the floor at the Hilton Treetops Hotel accompanied by the swinging sounds of the Frank Thomson Band.

Evening Express staff Cammy Sim and Claire Auton were dressed in authentic 1940s military uniforms to welcome the revellers, and each table also received copies of the Evening Express from 1943.

Community Editor of the paper, Dave Smith, said the night was a fantastic success with kind of atmosphere you usually only get at Hogmanay.

Children 2000 has so far raised £11,600 for local youngsters.
