A children’s hospice dream of getting a new minibus has moved a step closer thanks to generous readers of the Derby Evening Telegraph.
The paper’s Rainbows Hospice Minibus Appeal now stands at £28,000 – just £10,000 short of the amount needed for a new bus.
The Loughborough hospice, which cares for sick children across the region, already has one minibus but it can only transport two children in electric wheelchairs at a time.
The new 15-seater minibus is adaptable and can carry four children in electric wheelchairs and eight others.
Jo Plant, the hospice’s fundraising co-ordinator, said: “The fundraising has been going extremely well. We have been inundated with people offering donations.
“Everybody has been tremendous in Derby. They are a very generous bunch.”
