Macmile is next challenge for Guardian

Anything goes, that is the philosophy behind the latest fundraising campaign run by the Banbury Guardian.

The Fund A Nurse Appeal is asking readers to come up with an activity to raise the £80,000 needed to fund a palliative cancer care nurse at Horton Hospital.

Then all entrants will take part in the Macmile Challenge between May 19 and 27, in the hope they can significantly add to the £38,000 already raised.

Anne Cooper, fundraising manager for the Macmilliam cancer charity, said: “We want as many individuals, clubs and associations as possible to be sponsored to do something for one mile.

“You could have all sorts of different things – skateboarding, eating a mile of spaghetti or even abseiling a mile.

“Whatever you decide to do we can help you to rise to the challenge and help more people with cancer in the area.”

She added the distance did not have to be for a mile it could be longer, or shorter depending on what the entrant could manage.
