Keep Your Lid On safety message

The safety-minded Gloucester Citizen is awarding £20 prizes for cyclists snapped wearing protective headgear.

Their pictures are being published in the paper for the Keep Your Lid On campaign.

It has been relaunched in conjunction with the Gloucester’s Safer City Project and a local cycle shop.

Cyclists who see themselves featured in the paper can claim their £20 voucher to spend on cycle equipment at the shop.

The Keep Your Lid on campaign was started in 1997 and has been relaunched every summer since then.

It began after a local youngster, Ben Stoddart was seriously injured in a road accident. He had a cycle helmet but was reluctant to wear it because he feared being teased by other children.
