Huge leaflet drop strengthens Post campaign

A Nottingham Evening Post campaign has been boosted in its attempts to cut the number of deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning – by a leaflet drive from British Gas.

The company has produced 3m leaflets to be distributed in GPs’ surgeries and healthcare agencies all over Britain.

They which advise the public not confuse the symptoms of flu with CO poisoning.

The Post was at the launch of the leaflet at the city’s Queen Medical Centre to hear officials from the QMC and British Gas praise the paper’s campaign to have alarms fitted in all rented properties.

A British Gas spokesman said: “The Silent Killer campaign has been fantastic in raising the awareness, we hope these leaflets will help provide another key weapon in helping to reduce the number of deaths from the poisoning.”

The key message in the new drive is that if you suffer from recurring headaches, sickness or stomach pains, don’t simply to reach for the painkillers – seek medical advice.
