Globe success from foster feature

More children who need a new family have been finding homes thanks to the Wirral Globe.

The newspaper has been running a series of features about fostering, looking at ideas behind it and the work involved.

Now the local family placement group has revealed how inquiries have increased as a result of the articles.

Globe reporter Craig Manning co-ordinated much of the writing.

He said: “I started doing the features after somebody rang me up to tell me about a nationwide campaign to get more people into fostering.

“I looked at the foster care system and talked to foster parents as well as people who had been fostered.”

Craig is excited by the response and plans to produce a second series of articles.

He explained: “It’s great to see the stuff you write actually doing some good.

“I’m going to do a follow-up in February by trying to find someone who has decided to foster after reading about it in the Globe.”

Foster care organisers say they are happy with the response but always need more readers to come forward.
