Drugs hotline gets results

Police have praised the Wiltshire Gazette and Herald for its campaign to rid the streets of drug dealers.

The paper launched the Shop A Pusher scheme earlier this month in conjunction with the police.

A special hotline was set up to give the public a confidential means of telling the police about drug dealers.

PC Des Moloney of the Melksham-based drugs unit said: “We have had 15 different messages left on the answerphone.

“This information could help corroborate existing intelligence.”

The Gazette and Herald is now calling for a counselling service for drug users to be set up in the Chippenham area.

It has appealed for anyone who can help get things moving to contact the paper.
