Drugs Don't Work

The Torquay Herald Express has seen its Drugs Don’t Work campaign help a mobile anti-drugs unit reach a major milestone.

The Life Education Centres South Devon is about to double its operation with the addition of a second member of staff for its mobile unit, which travels to the region’s schools.

The expansion will mean the unit will be able to spread the healthy living message to 12,000 primary school children in addition to the 6,000 which have already been visited by the project.

The campaign has raised more than £32,000 towards the running of the unit which tackles the issues surrounding drugs by teaching children about healthy living.

The LEC operation in South Devon is pleased it can now extend the project and reach more children.

Committee member John Adlard said: “We have been enjoying a steady stream of schools coming on board and we need to keep this progress going.

“With a second educator, we can make full use of this facility and this is our overall objective.”
