An appeal to equip a Yorkshire cancer care unit is just £25,000 away from its £800,000 target.

The Halifax Courier has been co-ordinating the appeal, which will help day care cancer patients to get treatment locally instead of having to travel.

The money raised will help equip Calderdale Royal Hospital.Appeal manager Michelle Norcliffe said the target was now in sight.

She said: “We are absolutely delighted. Now that we are getting to the end we would appreciate it if anybody who has money to hand in can contact the appeal office so we can quickly reach our target.”
