Clean up or else, says paper

The Evening Express, Aberdeen, is asking its readers to clean up their act and Ditch the Dirt.

The paper has launched a campaign highlighting the problem of dog owners who are not cleaning up after their pets and plans to name and shame those responsible.

Reporters and photographers from the paper are to patrol streets and public parks and flag up any mess they find with special Ditch the Dirt markers.

And any owners caught leaving their pet’s mess will also have their pictures published in the Evening Express.

The campaign comes after outrage over the mess in streets and public parks.

Evening Express assistant editor Darren Thwaites said: “People, especially children, should be able to walk on the beach and elsewhere without worrying about picking up disease.

“The problem is not the dogs but the lazy owners who are spoiling public amenities because of their selfish behaviour.”
