Chronicle and partners are doing the business

What began as a business each day for a year campaign is now hoping to undergo a transformation into a two businesses-a-day success.

And it’s all down to the impressive accomplishment of the Newcastle Evening Chronicle ‘business-a-day campaign’ reaching the 365 new business target in its first six months.

The Chronicle team and its partners, Business Link, Inbiz and Women into the Network, have enjoyed watching the aspiring entrepreneurs display the same qualities throughout the challenge.

Editor Paul Robertson has watched the sheer number and varieties of businesses being established throughout the campaign.

He said: “I’m delighted that we’ve reached the target already, but this is a year-long campaign and it’ll continue to the end in January 2004. Let’s see if we can make it two firms a day!”

Tony Blair and the Small Business Minister Nigel Griffiths have both expressed admiration for the scheme.
