Catch the killer: Echo

The Bournemouth Daily Echo has lent its support to the campaign to catch the killer of a lift engineer – by offering a £1,000 reward for information leading to a conviction.

Editor Neal Butterworth made the offer after seeing harrowing footage of 42-year-old Clive Wilcox’s widow Angie.

Mr Butterworth said: “Nothing can ease the grief felt by Angie Wilcox and the families devastated by this tragedy, but the knowledge that there is someone out there with a conscience could ease the anger and frustration.

“Surely nobody can have been untouched by Angie’s appeal. I can only hope that our £1,000 reward will act as an incentive to bring this person to justice.”

Mr Wilcox and his wife had been out for a drink in the town when he was attacked on May 4.

They had called into One Stop in Wimborne Road at about 11.50pm, on their way to an Indian restaurant, when it is believed Mr Wilcox was involved in a confrontation with a group of youths.

He was struck once and failed to regain consciousness, his life support machine being turned off the following evening.
