Argus leads the way in support of Big Brother's Helen

The South Wales Argus has been campaigning to keep Big Brother housemate Helen Adams in the house – with national newspapers now following its lead.

The Argus has been backing Gwent hairdresser Helen Adams for victory in the Channel Four TV show since day one.

The paper has run a campaign urging readers to vote out Helen’s rivals each time she has been nominated for eviction, and since last week the Argus has been backing her to win, printing her voteline telephone number every day.

Now the Sun and the Mirror have jumped on the Helen bandwagon, urging their readers to help her win – even though they have both previously backed rival competitors.

The News of the World has also been following the Argus’s lead, running an “exclusive” report about Helen’s dyslexia, using pictures from her childhood – all of which appeared in the Argus almost a month ago.

Argus deputy editor Kevin Ward said: “We think we’ve played a big part in keeping Helen in the house until the final week.

“Now we think Argus readers could tip the balance in Helen’s favour in tonight’s (friday) crucial vote.

“Helen’s been a real star of the series. And we’ve backed her from day one, unlike some of our rivals who have been playing catch-up.”
